My practice of Ashtanga yoga began in 2005 in Mysore, India. Beginning at the source has shaped the way that I see the practice of Ashtanga.
Like many others I got the travel bug while completing University (Eastern Michigan, B.Sc). My travels took me through 25 countries in total, but my deepest connection was felt in India. After traveling through India, and studying with the Dhali Lama, someone suggested I go and see Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois in Mysore and learn Yoga. I found something of deep personal significance and traveled back to Mysore in 2007 to continue my studies. While in Michigan I studied with one of Gurugi's authorized teachers, Matthew Darling. I've also had the pleasure of studying with Gaby Pascoli in Goa, and Lino Miele in Kerala, South India, and many other inspirational Yogis around the world.
When I landed in Calgary in 2006 I searched for an Ashtanga studio and found myself at the Yoga Shala where I currently am one of the teachers of the Mysore program. I also teach prenatal, mom & baby, and Yin Yoga. I recently graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, and am now a registered Holistic Nutritionist. www.audraduran.com
I try to bring out the grace and beauty in my students Ashtanga practice, and to do my best in continuing the work of Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath. I encourage everyone to find the depth and peace of an independent practice - make it your own.
